This week was a very special week at LCA! Thirty-five students from China visited our campus and participated in classes and activities! The students joined our 3rd grade, 5th grade, 6th and 7th grade classrooms. Their goal was to integrate with American students to gain more knowledge and understanding of American language and culture! Each day, they attended classes with a “buddy” and participated as much as possible in classroom discussions and assignments. While the language barrier can be a challenge, the students quickly found ways to communicate with each other and celebrate successes together! Our LCA students even learned a few Chinese words along the way!

One of the things that makes LCA such a unique place is the many different countries and languages found within our school family. Our High School and Middle School have over 20 nations represented within the student body from Rwanda to Chile to Vietnam to South Korea! Diversity is prevalent and hearts and minds are open and receptive to people from all over the world–quite literally! And in our Elementary School, students join us each year for anywhere from 1-4 weeks for Culture and Language Camps, just as our Chinese friends did this week! This gives even our elementary students an opportunity to discover the world and create memories they will carry with them for a lifetime!

At the end of our week together, our Chinese friends had a special farewell presentation for the students and staff at LCA. Take a look at the short video below for a few highlights!
